Every 24 June, on the occasion of the Feast of the Patron Saint San Giovanni Battista, the city of San Giovanni Valdarno comes alive with numerous celebrations in the historic center.
Among the main events is the traditional Fiera di San Giovanni, which welcomes exhibitors of handicrafts and antiques, offering an opportunity to discover and enhance local products.
Next, there is a suggestive historical re-enactment: a procession that passes through the streets of the center, recreating atmospheres of other times, until you reach the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista. Here takes place the traditional exchange of gifts between the Mayor and the Monsignor of the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, a symbol of devotion and collaboration between civil and religious institutions. The day ends with the celebration of the Holy Mass and the performance of the Municipal Concert in Piazza Masaccio.
